Exemplary behaviour in Handball – Why we like this sport so much

The BM Safa youth handball team showed exemplary behavior in the Spanish Handball Championship that proved once again some of the values attached to handball.

The second phase of the male youth category of the Spanish Handball Championship took place last weekend in Lalín (northwest of Spain). During the match between the BM SAFA team (Madrid) and the Maristas Auseba team (Asturias), the BM SAFA showed an example of sportsmanship just at the beginning of the match against the Maristas Auseba players.

A few seconds after the start of the game, the players seized the moment to greet the rival players when one of the players from Maristas Auseba passed the ball to a teammate who was wishing a rival player good luck, and the ball went out of the court. However, the BM Safa returned the ball to its adversary, a laudable and praiseworthy gesture that was applauded by the Maristas Auseba.

The match came to an end with a narrow win by the Maristas Auseba over the team from Madrid (26-25), but both were winners showing another example of the values they learn in handball from the young categories, and they generally keep that spirit alive as they reach the elite teams.

Fair-play acts like this one are taking the center stage in the world of sport, with players showing the audience values besides offering a good game. Therefore, gestures like these are nice to see, even more in young players that are still discovering the world of handball. It is a wonderful gesture deserving admiration from all handball lovers.
