Municipal Indoor Sports Center ''Fernando Argüelles''
The Fernando Argüelles sports center is located on Antonio Mohedano Street. It has a capacity of 2,500 people and includes a 44x26 m floating parquet court. It was officially opened on August 10th 1980, but its facilities were renovated in 2006 when the Antequera handball team was promoted to the premier professional handball league in Spain —the ASOBAL League.
This facility is included in a bigger sports complex with artificial turf fields and several swimming pools, and comprises 6 collective changing rooms, 4 individual ones, anti-doping room, press room, multipurpose room, weights room and a steam room.
Moreover, this sports complex has been home to several important matches. The Spanish national handball team played there against Denmark in 2007, and, in five-a-side football, El Pozo Murcia played against FC Barcelona Alusport competing for the Spanish Cup in 2012.
Technified Indoor Athletics Sport Centre of Antequera
The Technified Indoor Athletics Sports Centre of Antequera is unique in Spain, which makes it an emblematic facility at both national and international levels.
The facility boasts a 100x70 m indoor pavilion, which means a sports surface area of 7,000 m2 including an athletics 200 m oval banked track that counts on a hydraulic system, making it possible to have the whole sports surface even for the practice of other sports or activities. The permanent grandstand seating capacity goes up to 2,010 spectators and might be extended to 3,500 using extra grandstands.
The sports center features various administrative areas, press tribune, different collective changing rooms for teams, officials and referees, several multipurpose rooms, medical rooms and a cafeteria.
Municipal Indoor Sports Centre “El Maulí”
The Municipal Indoor Sports Centre "El Maulí" is located just 400 m away from the Municipal Indoor Sports Centre ''Fernando Argüelles'' and 500 m away from the Technified Indoor Athletics Sports Center.
This sports center, located in front of the Antequera Hotel, is usually the place where competitions of the schools in Antequera take place, as well as the affiliated matches of the Handball Antequera Club’s lower categories.
This new facility was built in 2004, with a new synthetic sports surface installed in 2006. The facility features a 44x23 m synthetic playing area. The place is included in a sports complex with tennis and padel courts, grandstands for up to 500 people, as well as 4 collective and 4 individual changing rooms.
In this facility we have enjoyed Spanish Championships and international matches of the Spanish national under-21 football team.
