The 2017 Spanish University Golf and Padel Championships come to an end

Antequera has held the Spanish University Golf and Padel Championships this week, and both competitions have gathered 164 participants in total.

Regarding the Padel Championship, there have been 31 pairs in the male category and 23 pairs in the female category, whereas in the Golf competition there has been a total of 56 athletes, 43 male and 13 female.

 

The Golf Championship has been played on three rounds to the 18 holes the Club Antequera Golf has. The competition took place first thing in the morning on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and seven male and one female athletes have represented the University of Malaga (UMA). The Championship ended yesterday at 15:30, which was followed by the Awards Ceremony. In the male competition, winners were Víctor Pastor (gold, UMA), Andrea Gobbato (silver, UMA) and Álvaro Guerín (bronze, UPC) in the scratch category; and Borja Ybarra (gold, Universidad Europea of Madrid), Elías Azzam (silver, UMA) and Mario López (bronze, Francisco de Vitoria Univ.) in the handicap category.

 

In the female competition, winners were Iranzu Vicente (gold, Univ. of Deusto), Marta Trillo (silver, Pompeu Fabra Univ.) and Andrea Noriega (bronze, Univ. of Cantabria) in the scratch category; and Paula Peciña (gold, Univ. of Valladolid), Paula Pedrajas (silver, Cardenal Herrera Univ.) and Laura María Maldonado (bronze, Univ. of Almería) in the handicap category. Regarding the team competition, the winners were UMA (gold, Víctor pastor and Ana María Cabello), Univ. of Almería (silver, Emilio Hernández and Laura María Maldonado) and Francisco de Vitoria Univ. (bronze, Mario López and Ana Simón).

 

On the other hand, the Padel Championship has gathered eight groups in the male category and six in the female category, with one pair in each category representing the UMA. The knockout phase started on Wednesday afternoon and the eliminating rounds took place on Thursday morning. The competition ended at 13:30 followed by the Awards Ceremony. For the male category, winners were Catholic Univ. of Valencia (gold, Sergio Icardo and Jaume Roig), Univ. of Valencia (silver, Javier Rico and Adrián Torres) and Camilo José Cela Univ. and Univ. of Cádiz (both bronze, Miguel González and Gerónimo González, and Miguel Benítez and Estanislao Díez).

 

For the female category, winners were San Antonio Catholic Univ. (gold, Patricia Llaguno and Elisabeth Amatriain), Univ. of Valencia (silver, Tamara Icardo and Paula Pastor) and Univ. of Cádiz (bronze, Paula Delgado and Alicia Romero). Regarding the team competition, winners were Univ. of Valencia (gold, Javier Rico and Adrián Torres, and Tamara Icardo and Paula Pastor), Catholic University of Valencia (silver, Sergio Icardo and Jaume Roig, and María Molina and Alba Sola) and San Antonio Catholic Univ. (bronze, Jesús García and José A. Zapata, and Patricia Llaguno and Elisabeth Amatriain).
