The competition system of the EUSA Handball Championship 2017 is here!

This EUC Handball 2017 will count with twenty-two universities from twelve countries. Among those with the highest number of delegations we find Germany, Portugal and Turkey, each of them represented by three teams, and the host country, Spain, represented by four teams.

The female competition will feature 10 teams and will be divided in the group stage (two groups, each of them consisting of five teams) and the knock-out phase, with the matches for the final positions for all teams taking place on Saturday July 8th.
For the male competition, the path to the final will be more complicated. In order to win the tournament, after the group stage where 12 teams will be divided in four groups of three, on Thursday and Friday participants will have to go through the quarter and semi-finals, with the finals taking place on Saturday 8th, same day as in the female competition.

The normal competition day of the group stage will be divided in the morning matches, when the female category matches will be played at 10:00 and 12:00, and in the afternoon matches with the male category matches scheduled to take place at 17:00 and 19:00. During the quarter and semi-final phases, there will be three matches in the male category per day (at 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00).

There will be a different schedule on the first day of the competition, that is, on Monday July 3rd, due to the Opening Ceremony, and also during the final stage culminating with the Closing Ceremony on Saturday July 8th.

Regarding the last day of the tournament, the men’s final and the women’s one will be played in the Saturday afternoon at Fernando Argüelles Municipal Sports Complex, at 17:00 and 19:00 respectively.

Regarding the competition venues, all matches will take place either at the Fernando Argüelles Municipal Sports Complex or at the Technified Indoor Athletics Sports Centre of Antequera. The only exception is the first and the last day of the competition when some changes will be introduced and the games will be played also at the El Maulí Municipal Indoor Sports Centre.
