The female UMA Handball team becomes the new Spanish Champion after an unforgettable match

The female University of Malaga Handball team became the new Spanish Champion after achieving a clear victory (31-19) over the University of Leon during the finals that were held at the University of Murcia. Our students performed amazingly and each one of them shone like a star, which translated into the third medal for the University of Malaga in this year’s Spanish University Championships.

During the finals, the UMA team controlled the match from the very beginning, having a head-start on the University of Leon and widening the gap as the match unfolded. The final result was 31-19, which clearly highlighted our team’s control over the University of Leon’s. It is difficult to highlight the performance of any UMA player in particular, since the whole team played fabulously during the whole Championship. They had already won the UCAM (19-22), the University of Barcelona (37-24) and the University of the Basque Country (23-22) in the groups phase.

The Spanish Women’s Handball Championship ended with the UMA team winning the Gold medal and the Spanish Champions title, whereas the University of Leon team won the Silver medal, and the Valencia and UCAM universities won the Bronze one.

Regarding the Men’s Championship, the Gold medal was awarded to the University of Barcelona, the Silver was awarded to the University of Malaga, and the University of Leon and the UPM were awarded the Bronze medals.

With these two medals (Gold and Silver) achieved in the Handball Championship, students from the University of Malaga have already won nine medals in the Spanish University Championships (3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze), after 2 gold and 2 silver ones won in the Golf Championship and 3 bronze won in Taekwondo, Triathlon and Beach Volleyball.
